The stimulus package has required states to improve the high school courses they offer so that high school graduates are less likely to have to take remedial classes in college. The NY Times article "New Push Seeks to End Need for Pre-College Remedial Classes" reports on some efforts by states to better align high school course curricula with the requirements necessary to succeed in college. Whether these efforts will succeed remains to be seen.
